Sources & permissions

Where our stories come from, what permission we have, how we credit them and how we handle images.

Authorized sources

The following organizations have given Roger J. Quiroz R. permission to disseminate their news. We republish their stories in full:

  • The English edition is a faithful translation of the original Spanish text, without adding or removing content.
  • The Spanish edition shows the original text.
  • We use the same image as the original publication, stored on our site (never hotlinked), with the caption “Photo: <outlet>”.
  • Each of these stories ends with the note: “Republished with permission of <outlet>. Translated from Spanish by Venezuela Record.”

Other outlets

We also point to stories from other serious outlets — news agencies, independent Venezuelan press and human rights organizations such as Foro Penal — when they fall within our scope. For these we publish only:

  • the headline;
  • a summary written by us, of no more than 60 words;
  • a link: “Read the full story at <outlet>”.

We never copy their full text and we do not copy their photos. Instead we show a card with the outlet's name. The only exception is images under a free license (CC BY, CC BY-SA or public domain), shown with their credit and license.

How we credit

Every story shows, at the top of the page and on its listing card:

  • the original outlet and the original publication date;
  • the original author (or “Staff, <outlet>” when no author is named);
  • who republished it on Venezuela Record and when (“Republished by”), which is never a claim of authorship;
  • a link to the original story.

Image policy

  • Images from authorized sources are their original images, credited to the outlet.
  • We do not use photos from news agencies (AP, Reuters, AFP, EFE, Getty) or from other outlets without a free license.
  • Every image has a credit and a text description (alt text).

Scope

We cover Venezuelan politics; repression and political prisoners; human rights; elections and power; international decisions that affect Venezuela politically; and the country's situation (economy, services, humanitarian crisis) in its political dimension. We do not cover entertainment, sports, migration news or opinion without a news event.

How we collect stories

Stories are selected and entered by hand. We respect each site's robots.txt and do not scrape websites automatically.
